1910.135 – Head Protection: Get Your Head in the Game

1910.135—aka the hard hat rule—is a no brainer.

Whether it’s construction, warehousing, or any job with overhead hazards, you NEED to protect your head. Hard hats are a must for guarding against falling objects or accidental bumps.

Just as a quarterback wouldn't dream of stepping onto the gridiron without a helmet, you shouldn't set foot on a bustling worksite without your trusty hard hat!

Here’s a briefing of 1910.135 on keeping heads safe at work:

Employers must ensure employees wear protective helmets in areas where there is a potential for head injury from falling objects.

In environments with electrical hazards, workers are required to wear helmets designed to protect against electrical shocks.

All protective helmets must meet the standards set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to ensure their effectiveness.

Employers have the option to use alternative head protection equipment if it provides equal or superior protection compared to ANSI-approved helmets.

So remember: cool kids wear helmets to stay safe!

Brandy’s Fast Fact: You wouldn’t catch Travis Kelsey on the field without his helmet in prime shape, and the same goes for your hard hat on the work site! Just like a winning team cares for their gear and Taylor Swift keeps those tears off her guitar, your hard hat needs daily TLC. Regular cleaning prevents mold and bacteria buildup, and it keeps the helmet’s suspension system as tough as Kelsey in the fourth quarter. Let’s keep that hard hat in MVP shape and your cranium safe … “Tayvis” style!
